//PDGF family

Platelet-derived growth factors (PDGF) are a set of the numerous growth factors that regulate cell growth and division. PDGF’s play a role in embryonic development, cell proliferation, cell migration, and angiogenesis, and has also been linked to several diseases such as atherosclerosis, fibrosis and malignant diseases.

The receptor for PDGF, PDGFR is classified as a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK), a type of cell surface receptor. PDGF binds to PDGFRs ligand binding pocket located within the second and third immunoglobulin domains. Upon activation by PDGF, these receptors dimerise

Based on their receptor tyrosine kinase affinity other factors such as the VEGF’s, the hepatocyte growth factor,EGF,FLT3 and SCF are included
